Tow Wizard is a patented tow ball sensor system for on car measurement of trailer gross weight and several other towing parameters, to primarily answer the question, how do I weigh my caravan, boat or trailer ? Conceived for sale to the everyday boat or caravan owner it will allow drivers to tow safer, save time and fuel by tackling the cause not the symptoms of instability. The in car display will intelligently display appropriate information to avoid overburdening the driver. The multi-integrated sensor tow ball forms the heart of the system and provides the means to safety diagnostics, nose weight, and the all important caravan gross weight. The latter being an often overlooked legal requirement. Studies of the proposed sensor design as well as the new techniques for dynamic calculations have been the subject of a DTi Smart feasibility award. The system has been prototyped and is currently at a late development stage.
